These questions framed our EADI Gender Justice Working Group webinar on “Power, Intervention and Resistance in the Global South” (11 February). Expertly moderated by Aya Badr, the conversation connected geopolitics with lived realities and highlighted how women are advancing justice and accountability across contexts.
Drawing on field experience, Maysa H. shared lessons from gender-responsive work in conflict and post-conflict settings across MENA, while Carla Riera González reflected on accompanying Indigenous survivors of sexual violence in Latin America, grounding policy debates in lived experience. From the gendered impacts of sanctions, to the weight of colonial legacies, to vibrant feminist resistance across regions, one message stood out: gender justice is not about adding women into existing systems, but about questioning how power works and supporting the leadership already building alternatives.
